Enztec's Guide to Christchurch

28 October 2022

We know Christchurch has changed a lot in recent years so have set out to create a guide for our fellow attendees at this year's NZOA & AOA Combined Annual Scientific conference. This is your personalised guide to discover the best places to eat, drink and explore around the Garden City, Christchurch.

Officially the oldest established city in New Zealand, Christchurch is a city of exploration, where urban regeneration and heritage thrive.

You can expect creative street art, and exciting new eateries, bars and shops. The city is constantly evolving, always giving locals and visitors something new to explore. The Avon River intersects the city, intertwining the natural landscape with the urban environment.

Christchurch is the central location for South Island adventures, with the Banks Peninsula easily within reach, as well as the snow-capped Southern Alps and farmed Canterbury Plains. Christchurch is the hub of an outdoor-loving population.

Hosting a bustling summer season of events, mainly based out of inner-city Hagley Park, Christchurch has plenty of creative talent to showcase when it comes to adventure, performance, art, and music. Match that with an innovative start-up culture and urban business scene, Christchurch is definitely a city to watch.

So gather your group of surgical colleagues from NZOA and AOA to create your very own guide from what we think are some of the best spots around.
